Risk management as a post-normal science
This paper presents a review of the way in which the disciplines of risk analysis and risk management have matured. Their analysis of expert judgement reveals an awareness of the scope and limitations, and the proper objects, methods and functions of their practice. The historical and conceptual backgrounds for this awareness are discussed, and possible consequences for future science policy considered.
