Abstract

A theory is proposed for the full temperature and band occupation dependence of Auger electron (AE) and appearance potential (AP) spectra of a model band ferromagnet. In particular, it is demonstrated how a magnetic phase transition is manifested in the AE and AP spectra. An approximate theory for PES and IPE one-particle spectroscopy is presented. The conditions relating to the coupling strength U/W, band occupation n and temperature T under which magnetic phase transitions occur for a given BDOS (Bloch density of states) are discussed. An approximate procedure for representing the two-quasiparticle density of states in terms of the one-particle function is given and typical results discussed.
