Abstract

The species Cp*M(CO)(3), where M = Tc or Re, appear to behave chemically in a similar way. With H(2)O(2) however, Cp*Re(CO)(3) yields Cp*ReO(3), while Cp*Tc(CO)(3) leads to the formation of a polydecker type polymer. The structure of this novel polymeric mixed valence compound is well in accord with traditional concepts of bonding.
