Biomass for energy, industry and environment : 6th E.C. ConferenceFunded under: FP2-JOULE 1
The Sixth European Conference on Biomass for Energy, Industry and Environment was held in Athens in April 1991, just after a period of high international tension following the Gulf crisis. These events highlighted the fact that conventional energy sources are more and more concentrated in restricted regions of the world with high geo-political instability. In this context, the world biomass potential appears as a significant alternative for energy and industry, with an important contribution to a global environmental improvement and to the P.A.C. The conference considered such topics as the energy implications of biomass, the production, harvesting and treatment of biomass, biomass conversion processes including thermochemical processes and conversion to industrial and chemical products, the utilisation in developing countries, and the subsequent environmental effects.
