This workshop dealt with the problems of creating mathematical models of dynamic systems from observed data, in the context of the development of a European outdoor test facility for building components. Discussions centred on the best way to define parameters for characterising the thermal behaviour of these components, using internationally adopted standards. The influence of season, climate and geophysical position of the PASSYS test sites was recognised and must be incorporated in future research in such a way that the results for steady state parameters can be referenced to standard conditions.
