Sodium fire aerosol behaviour : a review of studies carried out under the auspices of the CEC
The present report is a synthesis of four previous studies, analysing the behaviour of sodium fire aerosols in secondary containment buildings. Three questions are considered in particular. The first is whether current instrumentation techniques are capable of obtaining the data concerning aerosols that are required for validation of computer models. The second is whether the current database of sodium fire experiments is sufficient for the same purpose. Finally, the question of whether current computer codes are sufficiently accurate in predicting aerosol behaviour in hypothetical LMFBR accidents is also examined.
