Theoretical and experimental aspects concerning the deformation and fracture of an aluminium alloy composite reinforced with particles of silicon carbide
The tensile properties of a reinforced A356 aluminium alloy composite with particles of silicon carbide are discussed and compared to theoretical predictions concerning the complex processes of reinforcement and interaction between the matrix and ceramic particles. The report also comments on the fractographic examinations carried out on the composite material, particularly in relation to the effects of the particles on the matrix fracture process.
