Summary reports of the R&D programme : Primary raw materials (1986-89) - Volume IFunded under: FP1-RAWMAT 3C
The main objectives of the Primary Raw Materials programme were to enhance the competitiveness of the EC mining and metallurgical industries and to reduce vulnerability for minerals, particularly those of critical or strategic interest. The programme comprised three research areas: exploration, mining technology and mineral processing. Summary reports of contracts in each of these areas form the subject of the three volumes in this series. Volume I, Exploration, covers topics such as economic geology, methods of geochemical and geophysical prospecting, and remote sensing. The main results in this sector are concerned with: (i) hydrocarbon gas lithogeochemistry; (ii) georadar; (iii) exploration models based on GIS; (iv) the formation of chrome ores; (v) research into the occurrence of strategic metals.
