Current issues involved in the standardization of continuous fibre reinforced ceramic matrix compositesFunded under: JRC-ADVMAT 1C
This paper describes the critical issues associated with the standardisation of ceramic matrix composites. It is argued that major efforts are required for the standardisation of test methods to determine mechanical property data for continuous fibre reinforced ceramic matrix composites. The two major problems that are to be overcome are the development of suitable testing techniques to measure relevant material properties and the progress that is still needed in materials' science to enable successful standardisation of a number of test methods.
