In the first part of this paper, a safeguards approach for long term stores is discussed, including features such as Euratom objectives, diversion assumption/concealment methods, safeguards concept (re-verification of the Basic Technical Characteristics (BTC), flow verification, verification to fulfil the timeliness goal, physical inventory verification) role. A very brief description of safeguards equipment and inspection activities in case of C/S failures is also given. In the second part, the safeguards equipment considered for the approach is described in more detail.
