Abstract

In a recent investigation of stationary phases for capillary column gas chromatographic (GC) analysis of chlorobiphenyl (CB) congeners, a new phase was found to display interesting retention characteristics for technical CB mixtures i.e. 1,2 dicarba-closo-dodecarborane dimethyl siloxane (HT-5). This phase was originally designed for high temperature analysis of heavy oils. In the present investigation HT-5 has been used, in combination with ballistic temperature programs and high carrier gas linear velocities, for the rapid GC screening of CB congeners.
