Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

In 1991 the operation of the High Flux Reactor (HFR), Petten, was carried out as planned. The availability was more than 100% of scheduled operating time. The average utilisation of the reactor was 69% of the practical limit. The reactor was utilised for research programmes in support of nuclear fission reactors and thermonuclear fusion, for fundamental research with neutrons, for radioisotope production, and for various smaller activities. Development activities addressed upgrading of irradiation devices, neutron capture therapy, neutron radiography and neutron transmutation doping of silicon. General activities in support of running irradiation programmes progressed in the normal way.
