This document is a synthesis of the reports of laboratories which participated in an intercomparison campaign. The collected individual reports are available on microfiche with the same title. Mechanical energy loss coefficients of various components of an air distribution system are required in order to establish the correct design of an air conditioning or ventilation installation. If errors are made in estimating these coefficients it can lead to: (i) larger sizes of ductworks than are strictly necessary; (ii) an inappropriate fan; (iii) a poorly balanced installation. This report describes the validation of a method for the determination of the energy loss coefficients of air duct components used for heating and ventilation purposes. This method was developed to allow a database of improved coefficients to be determined in a subsequent project.
