Wind power penetration study : The case of the Federal Republic of Germany
This report is based on the work done in the Wind Energy R&D Programme 1985-1989. The object of this study, denominated "Wind Power Penetration", was to evaluate the extent to which wind power could technically and economically be fitted into the power production systems of 10 EC member states. Issues covered include the evaluation of energy and capacity credits, control problems, wind potential, types of wind turbines and wind park configurations, cost of fuels and of plants, and load dispatch problems relevant to the specified geographic area. The set of 10 reports comprises national studies elaborated by different utilities in the European Community, but based on common guidelines; this report deals with the case of the Federal Republic of Germany.
