The reliability of robotics systems is a key issue in industrial automation and for maintenance, inspection and intervention tasks in a hostile and remote environment. Constraints in such an environment require a different way of using and programming robots when compared with industrial applications. This paper presents some important issues in improving the reliability of robotics systems located in a hostile environment.
