Mechanical properties in shear at very high strain rate of AISI 316 stainless steel and of a pure iron : Comparison with tensile properties
A new double shear specimen is proposed for testing at very large strain and strain rates avoiding the constraints of geometrical instabilities. Strain rates up to 3 x 1.0 E4/s have been reached on AISI 316 H and ARMCO iron, showing change of deformation and fracture mode with respect to low and medium strain rate.
