The present paper deals with the evaluation of an accident management procedure for the case of a loss of feedwater transient without the actuation of any high pressure injection system in primary side. The proposed procedure is based upon the intervention of auxiliary feedwater after the occurrence of dryout in the core region. This is a consequence of primary inventory lost from the pressuriser relief valve. Two experiments performed in the LOBI and SPES facilities constitute the reference database for the activity. Post-test analyses have been performed with the Relap5/Mod2 code in an attempt to explain the different evolutions of the two transients.
