Finite element methods for transient advection problemsFunded under: JRC-RELISTRU C
A brief overview is presented of generalised Galerkin methods recently developed for solving transient advection problems. This includes methods based on the characteristics, Taylor-Galerkin, and least-squares methods. The problems of developing methods for modelling convection-dominated transport phenomena in fluid mechanics and heat transfer are outlined.
