Large Hopkinson's bar methods for advanced impact testing of steel and concrete structural components
Two large Hopkinson's bar systems are described for precise impact testing of real size sheet metal boxes for automotive safety and large plain concrete specimens. Many of the problems associated with the impact testing of structural components in steel and concrete can be solved by using such systems as transducers for exact measurements of the loading, response and displacements of the ends of the components.
