Interphases between Cr-based ceramics and metalsFunded under: JRC-ADVMAT 1C
The success of advanced ceramics strongly depends on the ability to engineer appropriate interfaces in metal/ceramic composites and joints. In this paper the microchemistry of two technologically important interfaces, namely SiC(w)-reinforced Al-alloy composite and Si(3)N(4)/Ni-Cr alloy joint are presented. The effects of the interfacial structure and evolved interphases on the bimaterial properties are discussed.
