Abstract

Townscope is a powerful, comprehensive and user-friendly management tool which exploits the potential of the computer to assist in the process of energy-conscious urban renewal. The first of these two volumes, the handbook, provides a description of Townscope as a management framework which assists in the compilation of information for urban renewal at different levels, from global to detailed, according to the decision-maker involved in the action. The different levels of intervention are described and two case studies are presented. Volume 2 is a user's manual for the computer program Townscope and it should be read while testing the commands directly on the computer.
