  • The identification of technology priorities for European research and technology development : A review of technology mapping and related techniques

The principal objectives of this study were to review salient issues to identify European expertise and to assess the feasibility of using technology mapping in setting of technological priorities for European research and technology. Under consideration were ways of determining strategic industrial sectors, the criteria used, and the possibility of the application of mapping technology across all industrial sectors, both service and manufacturing. This report describes the issues and findings of the review, which was carried out by PREST (the Programme of Policy Research In Engineering, Science and Technology) under contract to the SAST (Strategic Analysis in Science and Technology) unit of the Monitor programme between July and November of 1990.
