Rational procedure for advanced non-linear analysis of floating structures
The purpose of this report is to illustrate the work of the BRITE project P-2146 together with its major achievements. The improvements in existing computer programs designed to evaluate first and second order wave forces acting on large floating structures are discussed and their validation against specific model tests is presented. New methodologies for the statistical analysis of non-linear systems such as moored tankers, semisubmersibles and tension leg platforms (TLPs) are briefly discussed. The validation of the complete procedure by means of experimental data relevant to a single point moored tanker (SPM) and a TLP is presented.
