Standards, technical regulations and quality assurance - What will change? What implications for Community S&T policy?Funded under: FP2-MONITOR, FP2-SAST
This study was part of a wider strategic analysis of the interface between two major areas of Community activity; the area of technical legislation, regulations, standardisation and quality assurance and that of Community science and technology policy. The overall project arose due to concerns that the relationship between these two areas lacked transparency, and that the interface between them was not effective. A set of sectoral reports was produced, of which this is one, consisting of reports on the automobile, building, electronic components packaging and interconnection, medical devices, water and agro-food sectors. Each sector was studied within a common analytical framework to provide a basis for the development of general conclusions and recommendations. This report is concerned with the interface between research and technological development (RTD) and standard setting and observance (SSO) within the automobile industry.
