FLAIR - Food Linked Agro-Industrial Research 1989-1993 : Synopsis of R&D projects and concerted actionsFunded under: FP2-FLAIR
FLAIR (Food-Linked Agro-Industrial Research) is a specific research and development programme in the field of food science and technology, whose overall objectives are: (i) to improve food safety and quality for the consumer; (ii) to promote food industry efficiency and competitiveness; (iii) to reinforce the scientific and technical infrastructures serving the European food industry. The programme complements existing initiatives in member states through the development of further collaborative linkages between different research groups and industries, and concentrates on the interface between food processing, food distribution and the consumer. Consumers increasingly demand more natural and more healthy food, with greater diversity and less harmful residues, and the projects within this programme represent the efforts of scientists to meet this target. This publication therefore gives a technical summary of the projects undertaken, together with the preliminary results and administrative details.
