TELEMAN is a programme of research for the European Atomic Energy Community in the field of remote handling in hazardous or disordered nuclear environments. TELEMAN's strategic objective is to develop advanced tele-operators that respond to the needs of nuclear industry users and manufacturers. The TELEMAN programme commenced in July 1989 and activities will continue beyond 1993. This brochure contains descriptions of 16 contracts that resulted from the first call for proposals in 1989. This first set of contracts relates to the development of components and sub-systems and to environmental tolerance.
