The report contains abstracts summarising the results of research work on the effects of noise, falling into three topic areas of impulse noise (IN) - annoyance effects and physiological effects, synergism between noise and vibration (SNV), and epidemiology. IN work involves identifying what subjectively constitutes an IN, implementing a physical quantification of IN, specifying the nature and value of IN corrections and determining criteria and methodology to distinguish sensitive groups in the population. SNV work concerns efforts on driving tasks and performance and annoyance reactions in dwellings. Epidemiological work involves assessing the effect of noise on cardiovascular diseases. Findings, conclusions and recommendations are presented.
