The thirty speeches focus on three main topics which reflect the structure of the conference: technology diffusion; infrastructure of technology transfer and innovation support services; public policies to promote innovation and technology transfer, including the role of public authorities, providing help without affecting the balance of competition, and the respective roles of the region, member state and the Community. The conference reviews innovative performance, considers the new problems posed by the probable enlargement of the Community, and examines the factors which affect a company's ability to innovate and the techniques for managing this phenomenon.
