Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The report reviews one of the SPRINT objectives, that is, promoting the creation of transnational mini-networks of bodies providing services to enterprises, aiming specifically at bringing about technological collaboration between firms in different countries. It is found that successful collaboration is to a large extent proportional to the degree of technological specialisation involved. Seven cases of inter-firm collaboration on the promotion of innovation within the scheme are outlined, which illustrate different approaches to technology transfer. All firms involved need a partner firm in the country or region in which they wish to operate. Case titles are: (i) more intelligent greenhouses; (ii) understanding movement using radiation; (iii) robots for better security; (iv) managing traffic on motorways; (v) the language of engineering; (vi) machine cardiologists know-how transfer; (vii) turning data into pictures.
