This publication comprises three papers presented at a meeting on advances in the simulation and modelling of thermonuclear plasmas, held in Montreal in June 1992. The first paper discusses the predictive modelling and simulation of energy and particle transport in JET - a global approach to the problem of simulation of plasma transport is described. The second paper presents a method for direct simulation of turbulent transport in fusion devices, including a summary of the contributions made by direct numerical simulations of fluid models to the present knowledge of the basic mechanisms of anomalous transport. The third paper relates to MHD modelling of plasma equilibrium and stability. Among the topics discussed here are the macroscopic model, the equilibrium model, linear MHD and nonlinear simulations.
