Fission modes investigations in 237Np(n,f)
The multi-channel random-neck rupture model of Brosa, Grossmann and Müller has been very successful in the theoretical prediction of fission fragment properties. However, fission channels have only been calculated for some selected actinides up to now. For 238Np no theoretical calculation existed, and therefore the multi-fission channel calculations have been performed using the programs of Brosa. The resulting channel graphs are shown. Furthermore an experimental investigation of the fission fragment properties of 237Np(n,f) is ongoing at incident neutron energies in the region of the fission threshold. A double Frisch gridded ionisation chamber is used as fission fragment detector. First results of the experimental mass and total kinetic energy distributions and the interpretation within the frame of the Brosa model are presented.
