Hydrogen induced phase transformation in an austenitic steel
The present study is a contribution to the comprehension of the alpha'-martensitic phase role in an austenitic steel which, when in the presence of hydrogen, exhibits phase transformation. Hydrogen was introduced by cathodic charge. Structural performances were checked by the use of the XRD (X-ray diffraction) technique. A cyclic martensitic phase transformation was observed. The phase transition and the kinetic of the transition are discussed.
