Abstract

The chemistry of carbonaceous pollutant formation is introduced into a turbulent fluid simulation code using an extended flamelet approach. This paper describes a two step model for soot formation and oxidation. Its sensitivity is analysed when applied to the simulation of a turbulent ethylene air diffusion frame. The soot production rate is computed, taking the turbulent fluctuations into account.
