Abstract

The heart of the C-Mod shape control system is a unique digital/analog computer which operates on a vector of analog signals (the diagnostics) with three digital matrices in turn (two linear matrix multiplications sandwiching a diagonal PID stage) yielding power supply demand voltages. In addition, the system includes associated electronics, the user interface (a set of X-Windows applications), and the underlying algorithms used by the interface to calculate the control matrices. Most of this system has been completed, and many individual elements have been tested. A series of pre-operation tests are planned to characterise the completed system, and to identify and correct problems.
