Operation of a quasi-optical gyrotron with a Gaussian output coupler
A new output coupling scheme for Fabry-Pérot resonators, consisting of a diffraction grating placed in Littrow mount, has been proposed. A hot-test at 92 GHz has been performed in a quasi-optical gyrotron. The coupler was designed so that the output beam could be matched to a 2.5 inch HE(11) guide at the gyrotron window. An IR camera was used to determine the characteristic of the pattern at the window. The results show that it is Gaussian. The measured spot-size corresponds to the design values.
