Predicted precision of ion temperature and impurity fractional density measurements using the JET collective scattering diagnostic
The paper presents certain calculations on the precision of measurements of the temperatures and densities of plasma ions using the JET gyrotron collective scattering diagnostic. It should be possible to determine the ion temperature with a 30 % error and the ion densities with an approximate 50 % error, owing to the high signal-to-noise ratio that can be expected in this experiment. The value of the electron temperature is found to be a critical parameter, as the above results strongly depend on the experimental error therein. The electron density is found to be less critical. It may also be possible to determine electron temperature from a collective scattering experiment.
