The effects of the Maritime Alps on the climate of the Riviera Ligure
The climograms of Ball-Eredia, of Griffith-Taylor, and of Coutagne, and the measurements of the solar irradiation show the differences which exist between the climate of the Riviera Ligure and that of the Po Valley. The Maritime Alps and the Apennines block the northern cold winds which turn into Foehn winds before reaching the shore, where their effect is superimposed on the thermic inertia of the deep Ligurian Sea.
