  • The certification of the mass fractions of major components and essential elements in a whole milk powder and a lyophilized pork muscle reference material : CRMs 380 & 384

Abstract

The report describes the development of the following reference materials which are certified for their contents of major components: (i) whole milk powder RM 380, certified for its content of Kjeldahl nitrogen, total fat, ash and lactose; (ii) lyophilised pork muscle RM 384, certified for its content of Kjeldahl nitrogen, total fat, ash Na, K and Mg. Indicative values are given for Na, K, Mg, P, alpha-tocopherol, retinol, thiamin (vitamin B(1)) and niacin in RM 380 and for Ca, P, Cl, thiamin (vitamin B(1)) and niacin in RM 384. Studies demonstrating the homogeneity and stability of the certified properties are presented, together with the methods of analysis and the results of the certification measurements.
