Technological innovation in the plastics industry and its influence on the environmental problems of plastic waste (SAST project no. 7) : Strategic dossierFunded under: FP2-MONITOR, FP2-SAST
The project is a response to concerns about the increasing variety and quantity of plastic waste and depletion of fossil feedstock. Its aim is to investigate and identify innovative instruments and strategies in the context of plastic waste management. The first project phase involved an overall analysis, and specific studies of four sectors of industry (automobiles; food packaging; non-oil based polymers; recycled materials). A study on ecobalances was published separately . This report highlights key findings and issues considered during the overall investigation, with the view to suggest orientations and priorities for future RTD policy.
