Radiation dose levels in the handling of minor actinide fuels
The management of nuclear waste, either in the form of discharged spent fuel or high level waste (HLW) from fuel reprocessing, is confronted with the radiotoxicity potential of transuranium elements and fission products. In this paper, an experimental and theoretical assessment is presented of the radiation dose levels encountered in the fabrication and discharge from a fast reactor of minor actinide-containing fuels (SUPERFACT fuels).
