The design and construction of a facility for the handling and packaging of radwaste from JET operationsFunded under: FP2-FUSION 10C
In April 1991 work began on the conceptual design of a waste handling facility including internal plant features necessary to deal with the unique cocktail of wastes likely to be handled throughout the shutdown. A key feature was the layout which enabled materials removed from the JET machine to be handled without affecting the very tight time schedule for the shutdown. This report presents the main features of the design and includes descriptions of the construction, commissioning and operation phases of the project.
