Computer models on fission product and aerosol behaviour in the LWR primary coolant system - Part I : Fission product chemical behaviour
This report contains the results obtained from the analysis of the thermodynamic equilibria of a series of chemical compounds which are supposed to form during a severe accident in the gas stream inside the core region of a PWR power plant. Parametric calculations were performed using the Solgasmix-PV code coupled with a dedicated routine developed at ENEL, that automatically prepares the input deck for each code run. Parameters of the calculations were the gas temperature and pressure, the fission product concentration in the gas stream, and the molar ratio between hydrogen and steam in the gas phase. The influence of the control rod materials (excluding silver, indium and cadmium) was evaluated, causing revision of some calculations. The study has led to the formation of a table of 42 compounds which could be taken as a reference for subsequent radionuclide transport calculations in advanced aerosol codes.
