The first part of this report includes a brief general introduction, provides an overview of the planning of the report itself and sets the background to the project. This is followed by a description of JET and the Euratom and International Fusion Programmes, which summarise the main features of the JET apparatus and its experimental programme and explains the position of the project in the overall Euratom programme. In addition, JET is compared to other large fusion devices throughout the world. The technical status of the machine is reported, and the results of JET operations in 1991 are presented. Future scientific prospects are discussed and the proposed future programme of JET is described. In the second part of the report the organisation and management of the project are explained, and the administration of JET is described.
