Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

TIDE (Technology Initiative for Disabled and Elderly people) is a pre-competitive technology development initiative specifically aimed at stimulating the creation of a Single Market in rehabilitation technology in Europe. For the purpose of TIDE, rehabilitation technology (RT) is defined as technologies provided to elderly and/or disabled people, to enable them to live more independent lives and become integrated in the social and economic activity of their communities, preferably outside of institutional care. This customer-centred approach to technological innovation and development characterises the market-oriented industries of the future. This booklet presents the updated synopses of the 21 projects funded in the TIDE pilot action. Also included are new synopses on 10 extensions to existing projects and a horizontal study.
