State of the art of the application of new information technologies in libraries and their impact on library functions : A reassessment : LuxembourgFunded under: FP3-LIBRARIES
This work updates a previous study carried out for the CEC which resulted from the Council Resolution in 1985 on collaboration between libraries in the field of data processing. The intention of this work is to highlight new developments since the previous study, without dwelling on those reported in 1986. Factual information is given indicating the main trends, the role of key bodies and the economic aspects of four main areas: (i) the availability of electric notices; (ii) the networks permitting access to these notices; (iii) integrated library management systems; (iv) the use of new information technologies for user services. This document relates to the findings of the study undertaken in Luxembourg and is one of a series of such reports covering each of the Community member states.
