Abstract

The main objective of the Community's energy policy is to secure a sufficient energy supply to meet the present and future demand of its member states, and to reduce the Community's dependence on imported energy. The conference on energy efficiency in process technology, held in Athens in 1992, was organised to provide an international forum for the presentation and discussion of recent work on energy efficiency, including environmental aspects, in the energy-intensive process industries. This publication contains the proceedings of the conference which covered a wide range of industrial sectors, including new processes and equipment. Topics addressed included: (i) chemical reactors; (ii) energy analysis; (iii) furnaces, kilns and ovens; (iv) thermodynamic cycles; (v) sensors and instrumentation; (vi) process integration.
