This publication contains the proceedings of a five day conference held in Germany in 1993 where the main subject of discussion was the state of the art in wind technology and the current problems of wind energy implementation. The conference confirmed that wind technology is becoming increasingly competitive with conventional power sources for large-scale electricity production. 90 papers were presented orally together with 167 specialist papers. Topics covered include: (i) financing wind farms; (ii) machine design; (iii) autonomous systems; (iv) resource assessment; (v) CEC and national programmes.
