Abstract

The reduction of NO(x) and SO(2) emissions of existing power plants or new boilers can be achieved by primary measures. In most cases it is very expensive to retrofit a flue gas cleaning plant as a secondary measure. This paper deals with the calculation of primary measures to minimise NO(x) emissions and SO(2) retention. The mechanisms responsible for the formation of nitrogen oxide are described and the formation of SO(2) is also discussed. The results of computer simulations of both NO(x) reduction and SO(2) emissions are compared with actual measurements.
