Combined positive and negative ion chemical ionisation for the analysis of PCBs
By combining positive and negative chemical ionisation during the same GC/MS analysis it is possible to increase the sensitivity for the low chlorinated PCBs by a factor of 3.5-7 when compared with pure negative ion chemical ionisation. By the use of isobutane as ionisation gas, detection limits down to 100 femtogram per injected micro-l can be reached. Data are presented on the separation of PCB 163 and 138.
