Abstract

This report contains contributions from a workshop held in 1992 on electron cyclotron emission (ECE) and electron cyclotron heating. The problem of the radial diffusion of fast electrons in tokamak plasmas and its impact on EC diagnostics is discussed and an overview of recent results from the Tore Supra ECE diagnostics is presented. Other topics covered include: (i) elliptical polarisation for oblique EC-wave launch; (ii) power combiners for incoherent waves; (iii) a new method used to calibrate Fabry-Perot interferometers on tokamaks.
